Here’s an article from the Christian Science Monitor featuring some quotes by me.
Education and Parenting are two of my life passions. However, there are so many theories and models of education and parenting.
Here are some of my thoughts after twenty years of living, learning and raising a family in this country.
While I do have a Master’s and Doctor degrees in education from Boston University, the most learning ineducation and parenting I have acquired has been from my family activities, particularly from my son Jason.
So, naturally, Jason has encouraged me to start this weblog. I will try to keep it going, since learning is the most fundamental component in education and parenting.
“WE” stands for Whole Education, education of a whole child. To achieve a whole education, parents have to effective communicators, enthusiastic cheerleaders, proactive supports, and, most of all, life-long learners.
The soul of We CARE is love and care!
WE CARE focuses on C-A-R-E
Communication—meaningful listening and sharing
Appreciation—empathetic understanding and enjoying
Responsiveness—proactive following-up action
Education—learning and growing together with a child
This is Jason, Anping Shen’s son, and I’m helping my father set up this blog on education and parenting. My dad has some innovative ideas on how to best work with Asian American parents and their children for holistic child development.
